Water Valley Mattresses1941

This picture shows EHC (Home Demonstration Club) members and helpers in 1941 in Water Valley in Randolph County Arkansas.  The members are in front of the building in which they made their mattresses in 1941 as an EHC (Home Demonstration Club) project for their community.

This picture was shared with Randolph County FCS Agent, Dana Kelly after a presentation she made concerning the Smith-Lever Act.  This act was passed by the Federal Government 100 years ago this year giving the Extension Service funds to run their program and pay their County Agents.  This building is still standing in Randolph County
