Linda Fitts and Cheryl Splawn (in the picture, Linda is on the left) are members of the Union County Extension Homemakers Club – Night Owl Quilt Guild.  The newspaper is featuring different people and their talents each week and the newspaper wrote a half page article about them.  I’m going to give you a few paragraphs to go along with the attached picture.

Every child has heard the question, “What do you want for Christmas this year?  Little girls frequently answer, “A doll with lots of clothes.”  With that in mind, Santa Claus’s elves keep the sewing machines humming at Gigi and Nana’s Doll Closet making clothes to fit 18-inch dolls.

The duet of grandmothers both began sewing doll clothes as little girls.  Their love of fabric, sewing and their granddaughter merged in April to create unique, affordable doll clothes as a business.  They found that the very fashionable clothes sold best – those with sequins and hats and leggins.  Each outfit they make is sold with shoes, socks and accessories.

As members of the EHC Night Owl Quilt Guild, the stitchers plan to bring Gigi and Nana’s Doll Closet to the April Quilt Show, not only with their quilts, but also to teach girls how to sew their own American Girl Doll quilt.  As fourth generation seamstresses, they emphasize the importance of learning the basic life skills of sewing.

To buy or order doll clothing, accessories or wooden furniture, the owners of Gigi and Nana’s Doll Closet can be reached at 870-814-7425 or 870-863-3190.
